MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Firefighters responded to Grace Community Church in Mishawaka Thursday morning for a reported structure fire.

Upon arrival, the Mishawaka Fire Department reports staff and children had already safely evacuated and retreated to a safe distance from the building.

Fire officials' investigation determined the fire may have started in an electrical water heater.

The full cause remains under investigation.

Fire officials noted the area around the water heater was clear of any objects, thus preventing further spread of fire. Officials recommend space around all utilities.
