The calendar still might read August, but it's felt more like fall across Michiana than summer lately.
The splash pad at Howard Park was on Tuesday afternoon, but most kids were on the playground, likely a result of milder temperatures and low humidity. Temperatures have finished at or below normal for the last week across much of Michiana.
A taste of normal summer heat and humidity is likely to return for the second half of the week but shouldn't stick around long. The Climate Prediction Center favors more below normal temperatures returning to start next week. Another dip in humidity looks likely as well.
While June was very hot across Michiana, temperatures have been cooler since July 1. In fact, from July 1 through August 13, highs have only hit 90 degrees twice.
Before you break out the pumpkin decorations, however, early indications are for another warm-up to start September.
