Suspect charged with Murder in Jan. 25 shooting

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- According to documents from the St. Joseph Superior Court, a 32-year-old man has been charged in connection with a deadly shooting around N. Johnson Street on Jan. 25.

The suspect, identified as Tyree Bonds Jr., has been charged with one count of Aiding, Inducing, or Causing Murder, a Felony, and is being held without bond.

According to the probable cause affidavit in this case, Bonds was allegedly driving the getaway vehicle other suspects used to leave the scene of the crime.

The victim, Jiffery T. Jones, was found at the scene suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The South Bend Police Department reports video footage recovered from the area shows three men exiting a silver sedan and approaching Jones before one man shoots him as he tries to run away.

The sedan then immediately starts pulling away after the shooter hops back inside. The video also shows a fourth person inside the car.

The suspect vehicle was then identified and recovered. The owner was identified as Bonds.

The investigation then determined Bonds was with the suspects during the early morning that day.

When speaking with police, Bonds allegedly admitted to driving the sedan to the area of the shooting and identified the other suspects.

Bonds also stated he drove the suspects away from the scene after they fired gunshots
