Monday afternoon house fire creates noticeable smoke in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Fire Department is reporting that crews responded to a residential house fire in the 400 block of Angela Boulevard around 1:18 p.m. on Monday. 

"Upon arrival, fire crews reported noticeable smoke on the first floor," SBFD officials said. "Further investigation found heavy black smoke with fire located in the basement of the home."

The fire was extinguished quickly and without incident by fire crews at the scene and there were no injuries reported to residents or firefighters.

The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.
