MISHAWAKA, Ind.-- This Monday morning, third time’s the charm for one local business looking to hand out thousands of masks to Michiana families.
Big Panda Buffet’s face mask giveaway starts in just hours at the University Park Mall in Mishawaka.
Car entered the Mall via the US 23 entrance and lined up for a free mask. Everyone waiting in line for a free mask drove in the right hand lane to prevent an traffic jams.
The owner tells ABC57, 20,000 masks are set to be given out Monday morning starting at 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.
Every mask at the giveaway was distributed.
"We received phone calls on people cutting people off, people getting out of their cars wanting to fight," Tim Williams said, Mishawaka Police Lieutenant. "Our whole goal was to change it to a better location to be able to handle the traffic and be safer for everybody involved."
There was a limit of 10 masks per car. No walk-up service was available.
This is the third time the giveaway was attempted. The event was canceled previously for weather and traffic concerns.
