Military members and vets get free professional golf training
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- PGA of America's main veterans' program, PGA HOPE, connects veterans with golf professionals to teach them the game of golf. PGA HOPE has served thousands of service members at over 300 locations, and in September and October, they'll be teeing off from the South Bend Country Club for the first time.
ABC57 Morning Anchor Summer Horan sat down with the PGA HOPE South Bend West's host, PGA Professional Kelly Sanderson to discuss PGA HOPE and what you need to do to participate.
PGA HOPE South Bend West sessions at the country club will start Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m., and continue at the same day and time every week until the final session on Thursday, Oct. 23.
If you are interested, you can check PGA's website to register for the experience if any positions remain. You are not required to bring any golf experience, VA disability rating, or golf equipment with you, though you may bring any clubs or other specialty equipment you own if you wish. Veterans do not have to have combat or deployments to participate, and all expenses associated with PGA HOPE are covered.
