Michigan City Police investigating fatal shooting

Michigan City Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Monday evening in the 1500 block of E. Michigan Boulevard.
Police were dispatched to the area around 7:30 p.m. for reports of shots fired.
When police arrived, they found 34-year-old Leland Collins with a gunshot wound.
Officers performed CPR until EMS arrived and transported Collins to the hospital.
Collins was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
