Alleged Marshall County thief caught by victim after selling stolen items on Facebook Marketplace

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- A Marshall County woman was behind bars earlier this week after she was caught selling stolen property on Facebook Marketplace by the person she is alleged to have stolen the items from.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, on Oct. 21, a resident in the 18,000 block of Apple Road made a complaint of items being stolen from the home.

Several items including power tools and at least one television were reported stolen.

"The homeowner then started searching Facebook Marketplace and found some of the stolen items listed on the social media site for sale," authorities said. "On Sunday, Nov. 17 the homeowner met with the individual and identified his stolen items."

Deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff's and Kosciusko County Sheriff's Departments went to the residence and spoke with the homeowner, Patresa Hunter.

After a brief investigation Hunter was arrested, transported and booked into the Marshall County Jail on charges of Theft (Receiving Stolen Property), Level 6 Felony.

Her bond was set at $1,500.
