Sheriff’s camp to teach students gun safety, hold police demonstrations

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind.—The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department said Monday that it will host a camp for 7th and 8th grade students in June.

The 3rd Annual Marshall County Law Enforcement Appreciation Camp will run from June 20 to June 23 at Potawatomi Wildlife Park.

Boys and girls currently in the 7th or 8th grade who are interested in possible careers in law enforcement will experience multiple police demonstrations involving S.W.A.T. teams, police and medical helicopters, bomb squad, K-9, and more.

Campers will also learn about gun safety from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy certified firearms instructors.

The camp is free thanks to donations from local individuals and businesses.

For more information about the camp, contact Deputy Travis O’Neal at the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department at (574) 341-4526 or [email protected].
