MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- Two Indiana drivers were sent to the hospital on Friday afternoon after a crash on S.R. 8, west of Upas Road left one driver trapped in their vehicle.

Authorities say Phillp Dalton Sr., 59, of Knox was successfully removed from his vehicle by Plymouth Fire / EMS and transported to Memorial Hospital with multiple major injuries.

The other driver involved in the collision, 81-year-old Geral Ewing of Culver, also injured and sent to Memorial Hospital.

The collision, which happened around 3:45 on Feb. 16, is currently under investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, but authorities say evidence at the crash site showed that controlled substance use may have been a factor.
