NAPPANEE, Ind. -- A man suspected of attempted murder is in jail following a lengthy pursuit involving Nappanee police officers.

The report states Elkhart County Dispatch received info from Michigan State Police around 2 a.m., Sunday, regarding a stolen vehicle possibly in the area of US 33 and C.R. 50.

The driver, Zakery Ripley, was also suspected of attempted murder.

MSP requested officers attempt to locate Ripley.

Shortly after, Nappanee located the suspect vehicle near US 6 and Dogwood Road, just west of the county line between Elkhart and Marshall Counties.

Police initiated a traffic stop, which then led to a pursuit.

Ripley continued driving, eventually driving through barricades on S.R. 331 at the railroad tracks in Bremen, where construction is ongoing.

Ripley eventually stopped and ran from the vehicle before being caught by Nappanee police K9 Polaris, according to the report.

Ripley is being held in the Marshall County Jail.
