CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- A Cassopolis man is in jail after allegedly assaulting a woman and shooting at an occupied vehicle on the morning of July 4.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a shooting in the 62000 block of Stephenson Street around 9:22 a.m.

Deputies located the suspect, 33-year-old William Werner, and the victim in the area of White Street and Daily Road.

Authorities learned Werner had crashed into a utility pole before exiting the car and allegedly assaulting a woman.

Investigators determined the shooting occurred on Stephenson Street where Werner allegedly shot at a vehicle occupied by two adults and four children.

No one was injured in the shooting.

Werner was arrested and taken to Cass County Jail.

At Werner's arraignment bond was set at $1 million.
