Man arrested for Intent to Deliver Meth after fleeing at 80 mph

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Van Buren County Sheriff announced the arrest of a 58-year-old man Wednesday with charges including Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine.

The 58-year-old man has been charged with Fleeing and Eluding, Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, and Driving While License Suspended and No Insurance on a Motor Vehicle.

According to the sheriff's office, a deputy attempted to perform a traffic stop on Wednesday for a motor vehicle code violation when the suspect vehicle fled west on Red Arrow Highway.

After the vehicle allegedly reached speeds close to 80 miles per hour, the driver allegedly turned north onto C.R. 652 and then into a subdivision before slowing to 10 mph, returning to C.R. 652 and stopping. The driver was then apprehended.

A subsequent search of the driver and vehicle allegedly led to the seizure of a large amount of methamphetamine, alongside packaging materials and scales.

The driver was then lodged at the Van Buren County Jail, where he was charged. The driver's name has not yet been released.
