MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- Indiana State Police responded to a crash between a motorbike and minivan on Aug. 19 at approximately 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of Miami Trial and S.R. 106.
The report indicates that a gray 2022 Honda minivan, driven by 36-year-old Heather Steinhofer of South Bend, was traveling south on Miami Trail before failing to stop at a stop sign intersection of S.R. 106.
Allegedly Steinhofer drove onto the path of a blue and gray 2017 Indian motorcycle driven by 61-year-old Roger Lavine of Plymouth, who was headed west on S.R. 106.
Lavine collided with the left side of the Honda, resulting in him being thrown from his motorcycle. Lavine had not been wearing a helmet during the time of the crash and was transported to Bremen Hospital. He was then later flown to Memorial Hospital due to serious injuries that are potentially life-threatening.
Steinhofer was transported to Memorial Hospital with injuries as well.
Neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected factors to this crash.
