Man stabs girlfriend's roommate while trying to get his things from her apartment
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A man has been arrested and charged stemming from an incident where he was trying to retrieve his belongings from his girlfriend's apartment but ended up allegedly stabbing her roommate in the process.
Twenty-seven-year-old Christian Troupe told police that his things were supposed to be left on the front porch for him, but when they weren't there, he tried the front door which he claimed is always unlocked.
The victim was asleep in his bedroom when he heard someone rummaging through the apartment.
"When [the victim] confronted Troupe about what he was doing rummaging around inside, he said some of his belongings were missing," court documents show. "The two began arguing, and Troupe picked [the victim] up and slammed him on the ground outside the residence. The fight continued, and at one point a witness heard [the victim] say 'did you just f****** stab me?' Troupe said "yeah I did ...'"
When police got to the home, they found the victim who claimed he had been stabbed in the shoulder with a kitchen knife. He had blood stains on his clothing and lifted his shirt to police, showing a significant wound on his shoulder.
Officers were able to locate a knife in a bush outside the home.
"The blade and handle had what appeared to be blood on it, and the blade was also bent," authorities said.
"After being Mirandized, Troupe indicated he had come for his belongings and they weren't where his girlfriend said they would be," court document show. "His girlfriend was not there, either. He went in the house because he knew the door would be unlocked, and he had used it multiple times before. Troupe said he did not know how [the victim] had been stabbed, as it all happened so fast."
Troupe has officially been charged with felony Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon, and Battery Resulting in Moderate Bodily Injury.
