Man falls out of kayak, drowns in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- The Cass County Sheriff's Office reports deputies were called around 9:53 p.m. on Sunday, regarding a man falling out of a kayak in Juno Lake in Mason Township.

Authorities' investigation indicates a man was fishing in a kayak when he fell out and was unable to swim.

The Cass County Marine Division/ Dive Team was called to the scene, and they along with the Indian Lake Dive Team located the man.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.   

The report states a life jacket was not worn.

Authorities say alcohol may have been a factor in this incident.

The drowning remains under investigation.
