Rockland Coleman

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- A probable cause affidavit from Kosciusko County Superior Court has revealed 21-year-old Rockland Coleman was arrested and charged with Possession of Child Pornography-aggravating factor found, a Level 5 Felony, and Public Voyeurism-def., w/o consent and w/intent, peeps at private area of an individual, a Misdemeanor, stemming from an incident on June 16.

Document state on June 16, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a business after Kosciusko County Dispatch advised a male employee, Coleman, had been caught recording a minor changing clothes in a fitting room.

The victim told police they were in the changing room trying on bathing suits when they saw a phone underneath the wall separating stalls. The victim said they looked down to see themselves on the phone and screamed before seeing Coleman exit the stall beside them with his phone in hand.

Another witness stated they heard the victim scream and saw Coleman leave the stall next to the victim. Police then spoke with Coleman, who stated he was clearing clothes from the fitting room stalls and was removing a pair of pants in the stall.

Coleman indicated to authorities that the victim "saw motion, assumed it was a phone, and started screaming." He went on to say he took his phone from his pocket when he exited the stall to text his girlfriend about what happened. Coleman's phone was then seized by police.

On June 17, police obtained a search warrant to complete a forensic download on the cell phone and on June 25 the St. Joseph County Cyber Crimes Unit conducted the forensic download.

On July 2, the Cyber Crimes Unit informed investigators that Coleman's phone contained child sexual abuse material, at which point detectives said stop analyzing the phone, and obtained a search warrant expanding the scope to include the offense of child pornography. The expanded search was completed July 9.

Detectives reviewed the forensic cell phone download report for Coleman's phone and observed 264 files, including 195 images and 69 videos, all associated with child sexual abuse material.

Coleman was then arrested and read his Miranda Rights. He agreed to speak with police and admitted that on June 16, he used his phone to take a photo from underneath the changing room partition. Coleman went on to tell police his intention was to see the victim in their underwear. He also indicated he deleted the photo after the victim screamed.

When asked by detectives about the child sexual abuse material on his phone, Coleman nodded in the affirmative, authorities say. Coleman indicated to law enforcement that he was curious and first found images through Instagram where he clicked a link and was directed to the Telegram application.

Coleman explained there were images he previewed for free but to see more, payment was required. He told police he never paid for images. Coleman claimed on Instagram he viewed posts of women suggestive in nature and there was a "GIF" of an image or video with the "link in the bio."

He stated he clicked the link in the bio and was redirected to child pornography images. He said at first, he didn't know the link would redirect him to child pornography, but after clicking a few links he knew this would redirect him to it.

He again said he viewed the images out of curiosity. Coleman confirmed he clicked on the links provided in Instagram videos/photographs and would view the preview images of child pornography.

He went on to agree that the 264 files of child sexual abuse material located on his phone was consistent with the number of files he viewed. Coleman was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail.
