ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Police Department reports officers responded to a rollover hit-and-run crash near Redwood Road and S.R. 4 on July 31, 2024.

The crash resulted in injuries.

The report states the suspect vehicle had fled the scene at the time and police had very limited info to work with at the time.

Police say thanks to community tips and Michiana Crime Stoppers, the suspect driver was identified as 69-year-old David Lavigne.

Authorities then followed up on the tips and not only located Lavigne, but also the vehicle believed to have been used in the crash as well.

Lavigne was arrested and submitted a guilty plea.

He was sentenced to two years in jail, suspended, and one year probation, on Tuesday.
