Man arrested in connection to April 26 Amhurst Avenue shooting

UPDATE: On April 14, 2025, Anthony Branch was sentenced to 12 years in prison with 9 years suspended and 339 days credited for time served. 

His sentence stems from a shooting incident on April 26, 2024, in the 900 block of E. Amhurst Avenue in South Bend. 

Branch had felony charges of Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon, Attempt Murder, Battery, and Firearm Used in Commission of Offense dismissed.

He was sentenced as part of a plea agreement on the charge of Aggravated Battery Use when the assault poses a substantial risk of death. 

ORIGINAL: SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department arrested 19-year-old Anthony Branch on May 10 for his alleged involvement in an April 26 shooting in the 900 block of E. Amhurst Avenue that sent one man to the hospital.

Branch is currently being held at the St. Joseph County Jail.
