SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department reports officers responded to Howard Park around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday regarding a man running around the park, threatening to stab people with a knife.
Police located and disarmed the man, identified as 43-year-old Derrick V. Myers, before detaining him.
He was found to be in possession of a steak knife.
Witnesses told officers Myers followed some parkgoers saying,“I’m gonna stab you, I’m gonna kill you.”
Witnesses added that they shouted at other parkgoers, telling them to run away.
Myers was arrested and taken to the St. Joseph County Jail.
The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office charged Myers with Intimidation.
