Local acting troupe holding auditions for summer production of Anastasia

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- The Twin City Players, based out of St. Joseph, has announced auditions for an upcoming production of Anastasia the Musical, which is based on a book by Terrence McNally that is based on the 1997 animated film.
"A Director’s Forum, for those wishing to meet the director and learn more about the show, auditions, and additional ways to be involved, will be held Thursday, March 13 at 7 p.m.," organizers said.
"Auditions are scheduled for Monday, March 24 and Tuesday, March 25, at 7 p.m, in The Studio at Twin City Players, 600 W. Glenlord Rd., St. Joseph.
A list of cast/characters needed and additional information to prepare for auditions can be found online. The group encourages people of all genders and ethnicities to audition.
About the musical:
Inspired by the beloved films, Anastasia transports us from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past.
Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing conman and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love, and family. This spectacular musical includes songs from the hit animated film, “Journey to the Past” and “Once Upon a December.”
The show will run from June 6-29, at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2p.m. on Sundays.

The musical, directed by Cassidy Vlietstra, will be the final production in Twin City Players’ 92nd Mainstage Season.
