Lane closures begin Wednesday on US 20, between S.R. 29 and Fail Road

Indiana Department of Transportation

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation and contractor Rieth-Riley Construction announced on Tuesday that lane closures on US 20, between S.R. 39 and Fail Road, will be starting Wednesday, May 28.

Crews say the lane closures will be in place for approximately two days and, during the closures, the right outside lanes will be closed in each direction, and no left turns will be permitted in the work zone.

The closures are for utility work being done over a few days ahead of long-term construction in the area.

"This project consists of road reconstruction with added center turn lanes and shoulders on U.S. 20 in three sections: between S.R. 39 and Fail Road, between U.S. 35 and C.R. 400 W, and between C.R. 250 E and Oak Knoll Road," INDOT said.

"Work will be ongoing with alternating lane closures in these areas through late November. Motorists should be alert for changing traffic patterns."

As with any road construction project, drivers are encouraged to allow extra time when driving through the area and follow traffic direction.

"Motorists should slow down, exercise caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones," INDOT said.
