Lake Michigan College offering Reconnect scholarships

BENTON HARBOR, Mich.- Lake Michigan College is partnering with the state of Michigan in the Michigan Reconnect scholarship program created by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

The scholarship is directed at addressing the widening skills gap with Michigan’s workforce by offering state residents free tuition for an associate’s degree or skills certificate.

“This scholarship is a tremendous opportunity for anyone who has dreamed of a college education or a chance at a better job,” said Trevor A. Kubatzke, President of Lake Michigan College. “It also comes at a time when employers are seeking to fill a need for highly skilled workers. Michigan Reconnect will not only help individuals and families pursue their dreams, it will also help our region build a modern workforce for the future.”

Applicants for the Reconnect scholarship must meet the following requirements:

  • Be 25 years old or older at the time of application
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be a Michigan resident for at least one year
  • Not have completed a college degree (associate or bachelor’s)
