LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- The La Porte County Sheriff's Office reports a scammer is calling residents and attempting to represent himself as a member of the sheriff's office.

Deputies say the scammer claims to be Charles Davis or Jeff Hope and claims to be calling to discuss various law enforcement-related matters.

Authorities say another scammer, possibly the same one, is spoofing the La Porte County Circuit Court's phone number and claiming to be part of the agency.

The scammer then attempts to acquire your information and/or money for warrants.

Deputies say you should immediately terminate the phone call in these circumstances.
