SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Knute Rockne Memorial Society is celebrating 100 years of Notre Dame quarterbacks Friday, including Irish legend Joe Theismann.

ABC57's kickoff host Allison Hayes visited Embassy Suites in South Bend to interview Knute Rockne Memorial Society Executive Director, Jim Lefebvre.

Former Notre Dame quarterback Joe Theismann will be presented with the Living Legend Award for his accomplishments on and off the field. Joe was a 1st team All-American at Notre Dame and finished runner-up in the Heisman Trophy race his senior year in 1971.

As the starting QB, Theismann compiled a 20-3-2 record while throwing for 4,411 yards and 31 touchdowns.

The College Football Hall of Famer went on to have a stellar NFL career-leading the Washington Redskins to a Super Bowl Championship in 1982.

Also honored, Irish quarterbacks Ron Powlus and Pat Steenberge, alongside special messages from former QBs Brandon Wimbush and Malik Zaire.

Tickets include a souvenir honoring the 1924 national championship team.

Theismann will also join Allison Hayes and Vahid Sadrazadeh Saturday on ABC57 Kickoff live from Notre Dame's campus starting at 10 a.m.
