Knox's Myles Mclaughlin on verge of breaking all-time high school rushing record

STARKE COUNTY, Ind. -- Knox star quarterback/running back Myles Mclaughlin is on the verge of leaving his name in the national high school football record books Friday night.

He's on track to surpass Baltimore Ravens star Derrick Henry's all-time high school rushing record of 12,124 yards set in 2012.

"He's a beast, go break it man," said Henry on a podcast recently. "That's what records, they're meant to be broken. I've had it for 10 plus years, man go get it, break the record man. I hope you win the state championship with it."

The reality of breaking that record is within reach for Mclaughlin.

The 3-star recruit has just 363 yards to go until he reaches the 12,124 yards record.

Mclaughlin holds a season average of 366 yards a game and had a stellar performance last Friday in their regional victory finishing with 372 yards.

His success is dependent on his team.

As always, the offensive line will need to make the right blocks sparing Mclaughlin Friday night.

Offensive tackle Keyston Dickson says even though the stakes are high for his friend and teammate, he doesn't feel any added pressure.

"There's not really that much pressure. We get our jobs done for him," says Dickson.

On the hunt for his final record to break this season after claiming both the national single-season rushing yards and rushing touchdowns records last week, Mclaughlin chalks it all up to the synergy he feels with his team.

"It's a brotherhood. I couldn't do it without these guys for sure," said Mclaughlin. "We're going to give it everything we got these next couple weeks, I guarantee we're going to be prepared and ready to go."
