Free-admission Children's Day at Potawatomi Zoo June 12
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Potawatomi Zoo announced earlier this week that they will be hosting their annual free-admission Children’s Day on June 12, from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
“Making the Zoo more accessible to children and families is one of the most important things we do,” says Josh Sisk, executive director of the Potawatomi Zoo. “Through this partnership with United, we’re able to share the Zoo with children who might not otherwise get to visit the Zoo and hopefully foster their curiosity for wildlife and nature.”
Zoo officials say all regular attractions, concessions, and the gift shop will be open and Zoo Keeper Chats will be available at 11:30 a.m. by the red fox exhibit and 2:30 p.m. by the sand cats in the Learning Center.
The day is sponsored by United Federal Credit Union which will be giving away bags to children at the event while supplies last and will contribute $5 to every new Youth Savings Account that is opened at one of their locations, when a coupon is presented from the event.
“United is thrilled to be sponsoring Children’s Day at the Potawatomi Zoo for the third year,” said Chris Swartz, United Branch Manager. “Our team looks forward to this amazing event every year and we can’t wait to see all the families back at the zoo in June. United is committed to not just enhancing the lives of our Members financially but finding ways to make our communities a better place to live. It is days like Children’s Day at the Zoo that makes the South Bend area such a great community to live and work in!”
Admission will be free for kids 14 and under, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
Organizers say that separate attractions, stroller rentals, the gift shop, and concessions are not part of the free admission, and that the free admission does not apply to group tours or field trips.
Overflow parking is available at Kids Kingdom and John Adams High School.
