Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office to transition to a new alert system

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo Community Alert System will be transition to the Federal I PAWS Emergency Alert System beginning on Sept. 30.

This change will allow all county residents to be notified during a county emergency, unlike the previous alert system that notified a limited 500 people- community member and media outlets.

This system is under FEMA and is used as a local altering system that provides authenticated emergency and life-saving information to the public through mobile phones, television and local radio stations.
