ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – March 31 marks Jersey Mike’s Day of Giving, a day when 100% of the restaurant’s sales go directly to a local non-profit.
Jersey Mike’s in South Bend and Mishawaka worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters today to raise money for the organization.
The restaurant has worked with the non-profit organization for the last four years, raising thousands of dollars for their mentoring programs.
The annual Day of Giving was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re back on track this year, hoping COVID is kinda working its way out, and with masks and social distancing, we’re allowing everyone to have a chance to come out here,” said TJ Jorgensen, Chairman of the Board for Big Brothers Big Sisters. “You can’t dine in at Jersey Mike’s, but you can place your order on the app or stop in and place your order and 100% of all sales today go to our program.”
Jorgensen said this year might be a record-breaking one for donations, since two Jersey Mike’s locations were open for business.
“Every time they’re getting food, that it’s helping our one-to-one program. A gentleman just came up and said ‘I bought food for the entire office,’ knowing that it’s helping Big Brothers Big Sisters,” Jorgensen said. “It makes me feel incredible, ‘specially in seeing what we went through last year, that’s the biggest thing.”
