This year's Ivy Tech Impact Gala raised a record amount of money. Friday night's sold out event raised more than $280,000 for the school to pay for scholarships and other student needs.
Officials say it's a 154% increase over last year's gala.
They event also had a record number of guests in attendance - 520.
The organizers of the event say they were blown away by the community's support.
"This event is only the beginning. What we hope happens is that they will see how Ivy Tech students impact their daily lives and they will get involved, whether it's on a program advisory board, it's on our board of trustees, it's on fundraising, that they will want to stay engaged with Ivy Tech in the long term," said Sarah Rice, the Executive Director of Resource Development.
The money raised will fund scholarships, books, supplies and services for students in Elkhart and South Bend.
