ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - Indiana University South Bend awarded scholarships to six nursing students on Thursday, marking the first time the school could give out the funds.
As part of the scholarship, students will work in the St. Joseph Health System for at least one year after graduation.
Award recipients emphasized how much the scholarship means to them.
“This scholarship is honestly life changing for me," said nursing student Anna Packer. "I have three kids at home and the financial burden and the stress on my family has been immense. And the relief just from having that taken care of has been honestly unbelievable. So I am so grateful to everybody that has donated to this scholarship [and] to St. Joe for facilitating it all.”
