ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Indiana State Police have been asked to launch an investigation following the death of an inmate at the St. Joseph County Jail Saturday morning.
State police say that jail staff were alerted around 1:40 a.m. that 32-year-old Jordan Sanders of South Bend was suffering from "unknown medical distress" in a cell.
Despite lifesaving efforts from staff, Sanders was pronounced dead at the jail.
No cause of death has been released but an autopsy, which will include a toxicology report, is scheduled for Sunday at Western Michigan University.
