ISP assist Mishawaka police, stolen rifle recovered, suspects remain on the loose

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Indiana State Police reports over the weekend troopers assisted officers with the Mishawaka Police Department in a foot pursuit with two suspects who fled from a traffic stop near Jefferson Boulevard and Liberty Drive.
Mishawaka police say an officer stopped a motor vehicle for speeding, at which point it pulled into the apartment complex in the 500 block of West Jefferson Boulevard.
Police say two black men exited the vehicle. Police say one suspect was armed with a rifle,
The two then fled on foot, heading north.
Authorities say along the route the suspect with the rifle ran a rifle was found on the ground.
It was later found to be reported to have been stolen from Elkhart.
Troopers helped set a perimeter, while a trooper with K9 Zoia was used to sniff out the suspects.
Police say the two men were not located, and the investigation is still ongoing.
