Infant killed in accident on US31 in Michigan

Michigan State Police are investigating an accident on US31 Wednesday afternoon that killed a 10-month-old child.

According to police, Tagila Williams stopped in the left lane of travel in the southbound lanes of US31 after running over a plastic bucket.

A second vehicle, driven by Alayna Rishaug, was also traveling in the left lane of the southbound lanes. Rishaug's vehicle crashed into the rear of Williams' vehicle when it stopped on the freeway.

Rishaug was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.

There were six people in Williams' car. Williams, a 23-year-old female and four boys.

Williams and 5-year-old Jacaryona Parnell suffered severe injuries.

7-year-old Kahaylen Young and 6-year-old Kameron Williams suffered moderate injuries.

Williams, Jacaryona, Kahaylen and Kameron were taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital via ambulance.

The infant, 10-month-old Jamando Guidry, was airlifted to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. He died at the hospital.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
