Indoor dining resumes February 1 in Michigan

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced Friday that restaurants can reopen for indoor dining as of February 1 because the state's COVID-19 cases are decreasing.

The order, from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, will allow indoor dining at restaurants; concessions at casinos, movie theaters and stadiums; personal services requiring mask removal; and non-residential gatherings of up to 10 people from two households.

The new order will be in effect through February 21.

Gov. Whitmer announced plans to reopen restaurants last week, but indicated it was dependent on COVID-19 case and positivity rates continuing to decline.
