Indiana will pay if teachers want gun training

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb is expected to sign a bill that will create a state-funded handgun training program for teachers who want the instruction.

The bill has been in the works for years, but finally passed when lawmakers agreed that the training would be voluntary and not mandatory.

Opponents of the bill believe it will make schools more dangerous because it will increase the number of guns in the school.

Supporters say the optional training could help teachers defend themselves and students, if necessary, especially in situations where there is an active shooter.
