Indiana Michigan Power Outage update for counties across Michiana

MICHIANA. -- Indiana Michigan Power as released an update on the widespread outages due to storm damage across Michiana.
As of 7:30 p.m. I&M were able to restore power to over 50 percent of the customers impacted, moving the power outage toll from 60,000 customers to 28,000.
There are more than 2,700 I&M employees and assisting personnel working in the following hard-hit storm areas: Saint Joseph County, Elkhart County, Saint Joseph (Mich.), and Cass County.
I&M anticipates that the majority of customers will have power restored by 11 p.m. April 1.
While out assessing damage, I&M crews have found 645 individual spans of downed power lines, 36 damaged transformers, 237 broken or damaged poles, and many downed trees.
I&M also states that they are aware and monitoring the risk of another round of severe weather come this Wednesday April 2, and are prepared to restore power should more outages occur.
