Indiana elementary teacher sentenced for receipt of child pornography

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A Miami County man was sentenced to 72 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release earlier this week after pleading guilty to receipt of child pornography, according to United States Attorney Clifford Johnson.
According to documents in the case, Cody Shanks, 29 years old, of Bunker Hill, received child sexual abuse material files via the internet between November 2022 and March 2023.
According to The Times, Shanks taught third grade at Suncrest Elementary School in Frankfort, and Frankfort Community Schools canceled Shanks' contract when he was arrested in March of 2023.
