Notre Dame Stadium to debut alcohol sales for home opener against Texas A&M

SOUTH BEND, Ind.-- Football Season is back in South Bend this weekend, and with it for the first time ever comes alcohol sales inside Notre Dame Stadium.

The new amenity will offer beer, High Noon seltzers, and single-serving wine throughout the stadium concourse.

“It was evident that fans were expecting this amenity,” said Mike Seamon, Notre Dame’s Vice President of University Operations, Events, and Safety. “Alcohol service is now standard in most major stadiums, and we felt it was the right time to offer it here,” he added.

To ensure safety remains a top priority, the university has put in several protocols:

  • All customers will be ID’d at each transaction.
  • There is a limit of two alcoholic beverages per person, per purchase.
  • Alcohol sales will end with the third quarter.
  • Stadium staff and security have been trained to recognize signs of overconsumption and can refuse service.

Notre Dame is also using the opportunity to promote sustainability. All drinks will be served in aluminum containers, and recycling stations will be placed throughout the stadium.

“We’re making a conservative effort to be as green as possible,” Seamon added. “We’re asking fans to be good stewards of our environment.”

The change comes as excitement builds around campus as the fighting Irish prepare to take on Texas A&M.

The same options will be available at home basketball and hockey games later this year.
