Indiana Child Safety Call-In Day set for Jan. 28 in Mishawaka
Speak Our Truth Project MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Parents, caregivers, advocates, and nonprofit leaders from across the state are invited to participate in Indiana Child Safety Call-In Day on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
The event is 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Chicory Cafe in Mishawaka.
Virtual participation options are also available, and an RSVP is required by Jan. 25.
Indiana Child Safety Call-In Day is a statewide advocacy action designed to mobilize community voices in support of meaningful child safety legislation.
Participants will be provided with guidance, talking points, and resources to engage directly with lawmakers and decision-makers.
“When we raise our voices for children, we remind them, and our lawmakers, that their lives matter. This call-in day is about showing up with love, urgency, and accountability for every child in Indiana,” stated lead organizer Rachel Van Alstine.
This year’s advocacy priorities include House Bill 1093 and House Bill 1107:
- Updating Indiana’s bullying definition to better protect students in all school environments
- Establishing consistent checks and balances across school districts to ensure child safety laws are enforced
- Improving communication between schools and the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) to prevent children from falling through the cracks
Lunch will be provided from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. for in-person attendees who RSVP.
