LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana Department of Transportation announced I-94 will be reduced to one lane in each direction near the U.S 20/35 interchange beginning Monday at 6.pm. to set up a bridge project.

This lane reduction will be altered in the early hours of Tuesday to two lanes in each direction as crews begin construction on the median and center lanes going over the bridge.

Motorists in both directions will have the end lane and the shoulder to travel on during this construction project that is projected to run through mid-September.

Drivers should keep in mind that the eastbound U.S. 20 to westbound I-94 is still currently closed.

INDOT suggests that motorists can use the cloverleaf ramps as a detour by taking the ramp to eastbound I-94, then the ramp to westbound U.S. 20, followed by the ramp to westbound I-94.

Drivers should be cautious of crews in this area and allow themselves extra time to commute if travelling through this construction zone.
