UPDATE: Four-vehicle crash reported in Elkhart County

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- An investigation is underway after a four-vehicle crash in Elkhart County left two people hurt.

This happened August 13 at around 5:33 p.m. on US 20 and SR 15.

Investigators say the driver of a pickup truck, a 57-year-old man, drove through a red light as a second vehicle, a Toyota SUV, was turning left to clear the intersection. The truck hit the rear passenger side of the SUV.

Investigators say the truck continued moving with momentum and hit the third vehicle, a Dodge SUV, head-on.

According to officials, the right front wheel from the truck broke off and crashed into the site of a fourth vehicle, another pickup truck.

The driver of the first pickup truck was taken to the hospital with a possible broken foot. A passenger in the pickup truck was taken to the hospital with complaints of chest pain.

The driver of the Toyota SUV was taken to the hospital by family members with a complaint of chest and arm pain.

Investigators say it is unclear whether the first vehicle or the second vehicle mishandled the traffic signal at the intersection.

Correction: a previous version of this article incorrectly identified the drivers of their respective vehicles.
