SOUTH BEND, Ind.— Howard Park has announced the opening date for its ice trail for the 2020 winter season.

Weather permitting, the Howard Park Ice Trail will open for its second season on November 14.

Events planned for the season include $5 Skate Night, Broomball Night, Friday Afternoon Skate Club, DJ Skate Night, Learn to Skate classes and Yoga on Ice.

Season passes for individuals and families for the ice trail are available for purchase and include unlimited access to the ice trail and pond, free ice skate rentals and a free two-hour rental of a regular storage locker.

"Ice skating was a blast last season and we can't wait to transform Howard Park into a winter wonderland once again,” said SBVPA Director of Recreation, Jonathan Jones. "This year brings a number of new challenges, but we are working tirelessly to create a safe, fun experience filled with surprise and delight for individuals and families alike."

SBVPA said it will follow the guidance set by the CDC and St. Joseph County Health Department by implementing capacity limits, employee temperature checks and thorough sanitization of high-traffic areas and equipment.

Masks will be required indoors and on the ice trail.

All skating admission must be pre-purchased online

Howard Park is located in downtown South Bend at 219 S. St. Louis Boulevard.
