ST. JOSEPH, Mich. - The John and Dede Howard Ice Arena opened for the season on Wednesday, inviting skaters at all levels to join in on the winter fun.
With new renovations under their belt, the arena is back to its former glory, since its opening in 2001, with new concession stands.
Those who get tired from the exercise can refuel with Licks Sweet Treats & Eats Concessions offering hot cocoa, snacks, ice cream and more.
Cameron Welch, the Recreation Manager for the City of St. Joseph, is excited to welcome everyone, regardless of skating ability.
"It's a pretty family-oriented kind of place," he said. "People of all ages are more than welcome to come. You kind of got something for everybody, got ski trainers for younger kids. Also, for older people, too, that are a little unsteady on their feet. It's nice to have that little safety net."
Open skate is available for $5 per person and skate rentals costing $3 per person.
Here's a look at their schedule through the weekend:
Wednesday, November 22: 12:00pm to 6:00pm (Open Skate)
Thursday, November 23: CLOSED (Thanksgiving Day)
Friday, November 24: 12:00pm to 8:00pm (Open Skate)
Saturday, November 25: 1:00pm to 2:30pm (Stick & Puck), 3:00pm to 9:00pm (Open Skate)
Sunday, November 26: 1:00pm to 6:00pm (Open Skate)
The rink is located at 2414 Willa Drive.
