ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Council election of officers will take place Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
The election will be open to the public to watch but the decision ultimately lies in the hands of the council.
After last year there was a lot of backlash with this election within the GOP. That uproar comes from the Democratic support of Dan Schaetzle, the Republican representative for District C after he won the seat of presidency in last year's vote.
Since Schaetzle is a Republican, many found his choices to be too bipartisan.
This also brought in backlash from other council members because Republicans are currently in the majority at five seats versus four Democratic seats.
Tonight's council will vote at their 5:30 p.m. meeting at the county city building in South Bend.
