MISHAWAKA, Ind. — The Mishawaka Parks and Rec department put on a holiday market at Ironworks Plaza Wednesday evening.
For those who have dedicated themselves to a craft, like Nadine Sunman, the owner of Sunny Acres Homestead Farm, it has a personal meaning when you shop with them.
“You can always go to a big box store and buy something for someone, but it shows how much you truly love them when you buy something that was made with so much love,” said Sunman. “Having something that really is truly something I make from my heart is amazing to be able to give especially as a gift for someone,”.
Nearly every booth at the market had someone standing behind it with a story of why they make their art, like the owner of Estilo Mexico, Nora Lopez. She said she creates her candles and pottery with the goal of sharing her Mexican heritage with others.
“So, I have a lot of candles that smell like arroz con leche, which is rice pudding, and we make that a lot at home and that just shows me that other people like it too, you know, it’s not something that I only grew up with,” said Lopez.
