Berrien County Health Department's Communications Director Gillian Conrad spoke with ABC57 about how residents can stay safe with the water outage and lead in the water.
A water main break on Wednesday afternoon caused 75 percent of households to lose water service. The main has been repaired, but residents should still exercise caution when using water from the tap.
It is no longer safe due to the loss of water pressure, and is unsafe due to high levels of lead.
Residents should continue using bottled water for everything like cooking, doing dishes, making baby formula - any water you will consume should be from bottled water.
Tap water can be used for bathing and laundry.
If you need information about where to obtain bottled water, or need it delivered, please visit this website or call 2-1-1.
