Head-on collision in Elkhart County sends one to the hospital Friday morning
ELKHART, Ind. -- A head-on collision Friday morning in Elkhart County has left one man severely injured and two other drivers shaken up, the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reported.
The call came in around 5:50 a.m. of a three-vehicle crash in the 30000 block of Old U.S. 20.
Authorities say a 2007 Toyota Corolla being driven by 31-year-old Clarence Jackson of South Bend was heading west when it crossed the centerline and collided, head on, with a 2017 Ford F150 heading east.
A 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan was traveling east directly behind the Ford and rearended the truck, giving the driver of the Dodge a leg bruise.
The driver of the Ford was unharmed in the crash.
"[Jackson] suffered a severe laceration to his chin that will require facial reconstruction surgery, broken ribs, and a broken nose from the crash," the ECSO said. "Blood was drawn on all three drivers and the results are pending. [Jackson] was cited for driving left of center and no financial responsibility."
