SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Protesters gathered in front of the St. Joseph County City Building on Tuesday to voice their opposition to plans of building the “Indiana Enterprise Center.”
The group says that there has been a lack of communication between county officials and citizens.
The argument against building the center is that it will negatively impact rural life in New Carlisle — which is where the center is intended to be built.
Protesters say they want the county to build the center somewhere else, or scrap the plans altogether.
“People are concerned,” Garrett Blad said, who helped organize the protest. “People have been left out of this process and what we're saying today is let us in, let us into the planning process, so that we can plan our communities together instead of having a few select people make plans that drastically transform the nature of this place."
Protesters got a chance to voice their concerns to the County Council.
No decisions have been made yet in terms of moving forward with the plan.
Protests were also held on Monday in response to what a local environmental group says was a purposeful attempt by the county to hide documents.
