NOW: Grand opening of the new Edwardsburg Library, first library since 1978

EDWARDSBURG, Mich. -- A new library in Cass County was celebrated with a ribbon cutting on Friday, marking the first new library since 1978.

The new library is three times the size of the former library and will offer more parking to patrons, a maker space, children's area, fireplace lounge, and two meeting rooms.

The $7 million, 5.4-acre facility reflects the board's commitment to library services, along with the community's vision and commitment to accessible knowledge.

Members of the community had the opportunity to get new library cards, check out literature, and talk to one another about the amazement of the new Library and its future in the area.

"The impact of this new library is amazing...So, to have this building constructed for today and for the future of Library Services is a testament to the board and their understanding of what a library means to the community." Said Eileen Toney, president of the Cass District Library. "I just want to thank the community for coming out and supporting us. This project has been a long one, but it's turned out beautifully, and we're very happy for the support and for the board, for the work that they've done in having the vision to bring this library to the village of Edwardsburg in Cass County."
